Design Philosophy

Design Philosophy

Our vision for the profession of architecture establishes a balance between theory and practice.

We believe that the design process evolves from initial ideas through to completed construction. The balance of design concept and real-world problem solving are all part of the evolution of a system or structure. This dynamic equilibrium is pivotal to the conceptualization and implementation of our built work.

Design Ethic

Design Ethic

It is our strong belief that architectural solutions are inherent in every type of creative endeavor.

Much of our work is activated by a synthesis of innovation and our client's vision. We believe a building should have a fully-developed material concept which calls for innovative applications of new or, if present, pre-existing building systems. This communication of technology may be applied through the extraordinary use of standard building materials or the design of extraordinary systems to fulfill the needs of common purposes.

Instruction

Instruction

It is our intent to educate our clients and our students about the value of architecture within our society.

It is also our strong desire to constantly build upon our own knowledge-base. Thus we maintain active theoretical pursuits through conceptual projects, competition and teaching. Those theoretical suppositions are constantly tested in the arena of actual building; the act of which, along with the constraints of culture, climate and budget, informs and tempers our conceptual work.

Forward Thinking

Forward Thinking

It is through the creative use of resources, both material and financial, that design becomes significant in producing new problem-solving strategies.

To fully understand how tactile qualities of building may enrich the public realm, we, as designers and builders, must first understand the dynamics of building trades and the tectonics of assembly.
